Registered Behavior Technician (RBT®) Pathway


Congratulations on making the decision to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT®)!  In an effort to make this process easier to understand, here are the key requirements to summarize the process:


  • Complete some basic paperwork (see checklist below)

  • Complete the RBT Candidate Statement of Commitment (see below)

    • Submit to the office

  • Go on the BACB website and apply

  • Complete approved 40-hour course (Proud Moments will provide this via webinar)

  • Receive supervision by a “Responsible Certificant” 

    • Your “Responsible Certificant” is your BCBA that will provide direct supervision and complete your “Competency Assessment”.

  • Register for the RBT exam

  •  Take and Pass the RBT exam

If I am accepted into the RBT Training Program, I commit to:

  1. Complete all 40 hours of training

  2. Fulfill all requirements as outlined in the RBT Pathway documentation

  3. Be responsible to paying necessary fees

  4. Taking, completing, and passing the mandatory courses,

  5. Competency Assessments and Exams

  6. Satisfy all requirements and register for the RBT exam within a 3-month time period
